Frequently Asked Questions About Our Staffing Services

Everything you need to know about our San Diego labor dispatch, insurance coverage, billing terms, and crew specialties.

Insurance & Safety

Are your event crews and construction laborers fully insured?

Yes, 100%. Every laborer and stagehand dispatched by Hands On Labor, Inc. is a legal W-2 employee. We provide comprehensive California statutory Workers' Compensation coverage, state unemployment insurance, and multi-million dollar commercial general liability protection. This shields our clients from California AB 5 misclassification risks, EDD tax audits, and jobsite injury liabilities.

Dispatch & Response

How fast can you dispatch a crew to our San Diego jobsite or venue?

We operate a 24/7 live dispatch desk with pre-screened labor rosters across San Diego County (Metro, North County, and South Bay). For morning emergency crew shortages, calls placed between 4:30 AM and 6:00 AM receive on-site dispatch typically within 60 minutes. Planned calls can be scheduled days or weeks in advance with guaranteed arrival times.

Rates & Billing

How does billing and invoicing work for temporary staffing?

We offer transparent hourly billing with no hidden administrative fees, fuel surcharges, or complex contracts. Crew hours are digitally recorded and verified by your on-site supervisor or crew chief. You receive an itemized invoice weekly or bi-weekly. All payroll taxes, workers' comp premiums, and employee withholdings are included in the agreed hourly rate.

Quality Guarantee

What is your 4-Hour Free Replacement Guarantee?

We stand behind every worker we send. If any dispatched laborer or stagehand does not meet your jobsite expectations or qualifications, notify our dispatch office within their first 4 hours on site. We will immediately dispatch a replacement worker, and you will not be billed for those first 4 hours of the original worker.

Event Staffing

What technical and event production specialties do you staff?

We supply OSHA-certified stagehands, high and ground riggers, audio assistants (A1/A2), video wall & LED tile assembly technicians, lighting techs, certified forklift and telehandler operators, and rapid strike crews for conventions, concert tours, and multi-day music festivals at venues like SDCC, Petco Park, Pechanga Arena, and Snapdragon Stadium.

Construction Compliance

Can you provide labor for prevailing wage and California Public Works projects?

Yes. Hands On Labor provides full California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) electronic certified payroll reporting (eCPR) compliance. Our crews are trained in Cal/OSHA Table 1 crystalline silica dust controls, heat illness prevention protocols (Cal/OSHA §3395), and mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE).
